Senior Director for Treatment Services

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Director for Treatment Services serves as the agency’s clinical leader and acts as the treatment director, reporting to the Vice President for Programs. This position provides strategic and operational leadership and supervises assigned clinical therapists and is responsible for managing, evaluating, assessing, and providing direction to the treatment teams on services that clients require as a part of their plan of service. The Senior Director for Treatment Services provides consultation, training, and technical assistance to direct care staff and case managers regarding engagement, and agency executive leadership, child-centered, trauma-informed caregiving techniques based on client custom needs. The Senior Director for Treatment Services directs, supervises and coordinates the clinical services offered on the Waco campus and the MCH Boys Ranch. Additionally, the Senior Director for Treatment Services provides support for Family Outreach clinical therapists. This position provides training on trauma-informed skills, suicide screening and safety planning, and completes assessments, testing services and individual therapy for clients. This position involves frequent contact with consumers, program staff, MCH employees, community agencies and visitors.

The Senior Director for Treatment Services must have a thorough understanding of and demonstrated competency in MCH’s treatment model, Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), and applicable contracts and state minimum and Council on Accreditation (COA) standards. The Senior Director for Treatment Services must exhibit intellectual and emotional maturity in all situations required to work with clients who have experienced harm and display mental health and behavioral needs, including difficulties appropriately connecting with others, due to developmental delays and trauma. This position requires respect and compassionate understanding for the residents in care and the ability to balance the need for nurture and structure in the work with residents. The Senior Director for Treatment Services must have the ability to form and maintain healthy relationships with residents and co-workers, effectively communicate with others and provide solution-focused suggestions and plans.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide leadership and clinical consultation to treatment teams.
  • Conduct initial assessments with new clients and provide treatment goal recommendations based on individual needs and clinical evaluations.
  • Establish therapy session targets, collaborate with clinical therapists to assess client progress and determine session conclusion, oversee the rollout of standardized tools (CATS-2, PHQ-9, GAD-7), and develop a communication plan to keep treatment teams informed of updates.
  • Oversee the STAR Health credentialing and contracting process for all clinical therapists and the Senior Director for Treatment Services.
  • Actively collaborate as a key participant in the development of the plan of service and treatment goals.
  • Train staff on trauma-informed care, suicide screening and safety planning, ensuring evidence-based practices and compliance with agency and contract standards.
  • Provide therapy services to clients and ensure each client receives an appropriate, therapeutic intervention plan to support their individualized treatment goals.
  • Actively collaborate, contribute and provide leadership in clinical supervision to support and enhance the clinical services delivered at Methodist Children’s Home.
  • Engage in collaborative planning, active facilitation, and oversight of group therapy while supporting clinical therapists in their development and leadership of group sessions.
  • Lead the development and implementation of enhanced child safety and monitoring plans, which may involve adding designated personnel or utilizing specialized equipment and technology, in compliance with T3C.
  • Conduct mental status assessments, including suicide and self-harm screenings.
  • Stay current on MCH policies and procedures, and all relevant contract standards, while completing all required documentation to ensure full compliance.
  • Stay current with and certified in evidence informed therapeutic modalities appropriate for clients.
  • Provide on-going guidance and support to staff, fostering a professional work environment, continuous development, and ensuring consistent implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Manage agency funds, resources and equipment according to agency policy and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively in a proactive and positive manner with other departments.
  • Lead program evaluation and continuous quality improvement process for assigned area.
  • Represent the MCH clinical program and the agency at agency and community functions, activities, and events.
  • Ensure all facilities and equipment are clean, organized and maintained.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This is a professional position that may require more hours than the normal 40-hour workweek. Presence during normal business hours of the agency is required to provide supervision and availability for consultation, staffing and administrative functions. Responsibilities include work in the evening and on weekends. This position requires effective flexibility and discretion in providing on-site support across physical campus locations, ensuring consistent leadership presence and responsiveness to the program needs. This position requires serving in an on-call capacity and responding to emergencies after office hours. Occasional out of town and overnight travel are required. An automobile for in town and out of town travel is required. Mileage reimbursement is provided for use of personal automobile for approved business purposes. A technology stipend is provided to support the communication requirements of this position.

EDUCATION/ LICENSURE

This position requires one of the following: A master’s degree in human services field from an accredited college or university and three years of experience providing treatment services for children with an emotional disorder, including one year in a residential setting; or a licensed master social worker, a licensed clinical social worker, a licensed professional counselor, or a licensed marriage and family therapist, and three years of experience providing treatment services for children with an emotional disorder, including one year in a residential setting.

Certification and licensure from the Texas State Board of Examiners is required. Supervisory and administrative experience in human services are preferred. Must meet eligibility requirements for Texas Medicaid and STAR Health credentialing and obtain full credentialing within one year of hire.

TRAINING

Training hours must be completed in pre-service and annually to comply with all relevant contract and accreditation standards, including T3C and MCH policy. The employee’s supervisor may require

additional training to meet specific job requirements or enhance professional growth. Completion of training requirements is mandatory for continued employment.

OTHER

The Senior Director for Treatment Services must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid Texas Driver’s License, an excellent driving record that meets the standards set forth by the liability insurance company and Methodist Children’s Home, no criminal history and acceptable references.
