Public Relations Officer

Job Summary: The Public Relations Officer supports public relations, marketing, and branding initiatives to enhance the visibility of the organization, and to help MCH reach its fundraising and strategic goals. This role involves creating content for various communication channels, supporting fundraising efforts, and contributing to multimedia projects. The Public Relations Officer presents the MCH story in a way that is clear to understand and helps foster increased support for the ministry. This individual must demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. This position reports directly to the Senior Director for Advancement and works closely with the entire department for advancement, and requires maintaining ethical and professional behavior aligned with the organization's mission and values.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Develop and maintain positive relationships with staff, youth, families and other stakeholders.

· Assist with content creation for publications, social media, websites, and other communication platforms.

· Contribute photography and video for promotional materials and events.

· Assist in planning and executing marketing campaigns and public relations strategies.

· Support the development of fundraising initiatives, including direct mail appeals and donor communications.

· Represent the organization at conferences, public events, and media engagements.

· Assist in maintaining and updating the organization's Visitors Center and other promotional displays.

· Support the planning and execution of special events and community engagement activities.

· Assist with graphic design projects by supporting the MCH graphic designer as necessary.

Working Conditions:

This position may require working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including evenings and weekends. Travel may be required for events, media engagements, and organizational initiatives. A valid driver's license is required; mileage reimbursement is provided for business-related travel, and/or an agency vehicle may be available for use. A cell phone is required, with a technology stipend provided for business use.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field from an accredited institution
is required. 3-5 years of experience in public relations, communications, or a related field is preferred. Experience with nonprofit organizations and knowledge of child care or social service-related communication is preferred.

Training and Professional Development:

Required to complete training hours annually to comply with licensing, accreditation standards, and organizational policies. Additional training may be required to enhance professional growth and meet job-specific requirements.

Other Requirements:

Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver's license and an excellent driving record. Must pass a background check and meet the organization's standards for employment. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple priorities, and interact professionally with various stakeholders.
