Accounting Associate (Compliance)

JOB SUMMARY

The Accounting Associate - Accounts Receivable & Compliance handles the daily cash receipts and prepares deposits for the General Operating Fund and Endowment fund. This position reports to the Senior Director for Accounting. The Accounting Associate must maintain a healthy value system, including moral and ethical behavior consistent with the agency's mission and core values. This staff member will work independently and collaboratively with employees throughout the agency.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a receptionist to the Accounting Office. Answer phones and assist staff and students with information.
  • Primarily responsible for working the counter to distribute cash advances and reimbursement of expenses, etc.
  • Process all deposits for General Operating Fund, Endowment Fund (incl. Special Funds)
  • Process all incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Filing of invoices and other records
  • Purchase and stock snacks for the Administration Break Room.
  • General Clerical duties assigned by the Senior Director for Accounting or the VP-Finance.
  • Maintain all financial records of Student Accounts and distribute reports as necessary.
  • Process increases to credit card limits by request and send out a confirmation.
  • Process monthly billing to parents for children in care, State, and County agencies as necessary.
  • Assist with internal monthly budget reports preparations.
  • Assist with additional audits and financial reporting necessary for grants, contracts, or governmental requirements.
  • Assist with special projects and other functions as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position supports the Accounting Coordinator and Accounting Associate (AP) as the assigned personnel need assistance to complete all necessary tasks. Position requires dependability, excellent organizational and time-management skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with staff, children, and the public.

The Accounting Associate - Accounts Receivable & Compliance has a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday. Normal hours are 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. 

EDUCATION/LICENSURE

High school diploma is required. One year of experience in accounting required. Completion accounting courses would be helpful but not required. Familiarity with general office equipment computers, and related software such as Word and Excel is preferred.

TRAINING

Training hours must be completed annually to comply with licensing and accreditation standards, as well as MCH policy. The employee's supervisor may require additional training to meet specific job requirements or enhance professional growth. Completion of training requirements is mandatory for continued employment.

OTHER

Accounts Receivable & Compliance must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid Texas Driver's License, an excellent driving record that meets the standards set forth by the liability insurance company and Methodist Children's Home, no criminal history, and acceptable references.
